Do you recall the New Year's resolutions you made this past year? Did you stick to them? I made a New Year's resolution this past year and you'll be proud to know that I stuck to it. Do you know what it was? Not to make any more New Years resolutions!

You're probably thinking "that's an easy one", when really it's not. Deciding to live in reality and make only goals that I believe are attainable isn't an easy thing to do.

I bet many of the resolutions you had in mind had to do with something like this:

  • Losing 80-pounds of body fat in a month
  • Toning those flabby abs into a 6-pack by summer (it's June)
  • Putting on 50-pounds of bulging muscle by your high school reunion (in a week)

These are fairly unrealistic goals, and I can tell you now, they'll only end it further disappointment. Here are the ways I made my fitness resolutions a reality:

Put it in your planner I found that the best way to keep my gym sessions was to record them in my daily planner. I would never dream of missing a meeting for work or a dinner with a friend. These are important appointments, so I put them in my calendar. By scheduling time for fitness you're making it a priority in your life. Don't just resolve to make it to the gym 5 days a week. If it's not possible for you, make it 3 days a week and stick to those commitments!
