This is because water workouts expend more energy than a similar land-based exercise because of the resistance of the water. Nearly a dozen manufacturers offer aquatic exercise products, the most popular of which are aquatic floats. Water floats strap onto arms, ankles, waists and wrists and stay buoyant in the water to create resistance. They're made of plastic, rubber, PVC, ethafoam and various other materials.
