If you want a home gym built for muscle building, but don't have a ton of money to blow on resistance training machines I hear you. I'll give you a tip, a full set of dumbbells ranging from 5-pounds to 100-pounds is all you'll need to tone your muscles and improve your overall strength. Plus, a full set of bells is less expensive, will take up less space and will offer more flexibility than a power rack or Smith machine. Trust me, I house a set in my one-bedroom apartment.

I'm fully convinced that people who set up their own home gyms do it with the best intent, as I'm sure you do. Unfortunately, I just came back from my local gym where the dumbbells were strewn around the floor just begging for someone to trip over them. This poses the worst sort of safety hazard. As human beings we just naturally mess things up, not that I'm a neat freak or anything, but knowing that I tend to leave things out for my boyfriend to trip over we purchased a dumbbell rack to keep all of our dumbbells in order.
