I like to think of my stopwatch as my very own hand - held energy switch when I press the button , that's when it's go-time!
But aside from my own personal sweat-filled delusions Come on, people, motivation is good in any form ! stopwatches are just hand - held timing devices that ensure the accuracy of our personal workouts, races and sporting events. Thanks to this accurate little timepiece the amount of time elapsed from start to finish can be determined without argument.
A basic mechanical analogue stopwatch (that resembles a clock face with hands) is designed to start and stop at the press of a button. A second smaller button resets the stop watch hands to zero so the next time can be taken. The second button can also be used to record lap times. When the split time button is pressed while the watch is running, the display freezes, but the watch hands continue to record the total elapsed time.
If an analogue wristwatch has a stopwatch function, it's referred to as a "chronograph".
A digital stopwatch shows how much time has elapsed on a LCD display that resembles a digital watch. In fact, many digital wrist watches have stopwatch functions.
