Vertical Dumbbell Racks

Whoever came up with the vertical dumbbell rack is a space-efficient genius. I almost kicked myself after purchasing my 3-tiered dumbbell rack when I think of the space I would have saved in my little apartment with a vertical model.

Vertical dumbbell racks sit upright like a tower, which means they're great for home use and for use in small areas. You can basically fit 3 vertical dumbbell racks in the same space you would fit one horizontal shelf-style dumbbell rack. Plus, on a vertical dumbbell rack you can keep your bells in ascending order, or do as I do and keep the ones at the top that you use most often. The vertical shape of the tower makes grabbing your weights convenient and this way you won't injure your back bending down to pick them up off of the floor.

Vertical dumbbell racks typically have 2 sides and they can accommodate a full set of dumbbells just like a standard dumbbell rack . A set of dumbbells will usually include 10 to 20 pairs of dumbbells, each set increasing in increments of 5-pounds (for example one set includes two 5-dumbbells, 2 10-pound dumbbells, 2 15-pound dumbbellsand so forth).

Using a vertical dumbbell rack will keep your dumbbells in neat and convenient order so that you're not stumbling over them during your workout. Vertical dumbbell racks start at about $100 online (dumbbells not included).

I should mention that both vertical and tiered dumbbell racks will hold both hexagonal dumbbells (with hexagon-shaped ends) and round-ended dumbbells. Believe it or not, there has been some debate between the hexagon camp and the round camp when it comes to dumbbell preference (and no, I'm not kidding). I personally side with the hexagon people on this one and although it might sound odd to be fussing about something as simple as the shape of your dumbbell ends you'll know what I mean when you find yourself placing a pair on the floor in between your feet between sets. Think of it this way, I typical...
